Which is the best watch for jogging?

I am currently looking for a watch for jogging. I am wondering whether there is a watch that monitors your heart rate and travelling distance. If there is one, can anyone recommend me which one is the best? My budget is 0 – 0

Slow Heart Rate?

I got my heat rate tested at work and it was at 50.

I am a 27yr old female 5ft5 and i am 14stone. I am obviously overweight. I go to a slimming class once a week have been for a while and have lost about 4 stone. I exercise for about 2 hours a week twice a week at a gym and even them sometimes I don’t go. I tested my heart rate again with a polar chest band and watch at home and it was acurate, it is sometimes at 47.

Is this normal? ive been reading that this is generally for althletes, I wouldnt class myself as one!

Any ideas should i visit my gp to get it checked out, or should i just be happy that its low?

What's a good heart rate monitor to buy?

Inexpensive and with a distance meter if possible.
….odometer…….

I am a 24 year old male, 6′ tall and weigh 180 pounds. I am obviously not obese, but I have lived a rather sedentary lifestyle for the past few years, and I just got over smoking, so I am not in too great of shape. I recently started back at the gym, and one of my goals has been to develop stronger lungs and to be able to run distances of 3-5 miles. I played sports all through high school, so I know that just because there’s pain does not mean that you should stop, sometimes you have to push through it to get to the next level of fitness. With all that being said…

After 5-10 minutes of jogging at 6 MPH, my heart rate is always 180+. After 10-15 minutes of jogging at that pace I have seen my heart rate as high as 194. Please note, that I do not have a heart rate monitor so I am going off of the gym’s treadmill hand sensor. Everything that I have read says my max heart rate is 220-my age(24), which would be 196. Just how bad is it that I am hitting this point after 10-15 minutes of activity? Is this something that I should push myself through or should I be more cautious? I have also read articles for various activities that suggest you achieve 60% of your max heart rate as well as 80% of your max heart rate, but never something as high as 95%+. Should I be concerned about jogging 20 minutes without a break?

What is the best fitness monitoring watch?

Doing long runs so need an accurate watch that shows heart rate so i can space myself on the ground. Around £50, give or take. Polar brand is the best from i’ve heard.
F7 is too expensive

Well I’ve been exercising a lot, and everything says make sure you burning X amount of calories. But how do you really know? I mean I know there are websites you can type in your activity, but that’s more of an estimate.

My boyfriend said to get a Pedometer, but that seems to only measure distance/steps for walkers. I walk/run & bike ride + I’ll be adding in some weight training.

Someone else at school said to get a watch that monitors your heart rate and you can calculate calories burned from that…but I wouldn’t know how?

OK…now I’m over confused. Which is better? Does anyone have any they’ve used and liked?

I thought about this one, but will it help when I ride my bike, or only when I’m walking/running?

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3294308

I’m sort of on a budget, I don’t want to spend more than , and cheaper would be better. Since half the time stuff that’s more expensive just has more gadgets but not anything I really need.
Lastly, are all these pointless? Or will they be helpful and motivational? Would hate to waste the money if I’m going to end up calculating calories burned by hand anyway…

Dual purpose 650XL for commuting???

I’ve had a couple VFR’s and a F4i. I want a new bike, and don’t want another 600cc flat four. It was just a little boring. My heart wants to get a gsxr 750, or a cbr1000rr. But my head says that would be dumb, cuz of the theft rate in this town.

Practicality and fun are my main concerns. So I was thinking of getting a 650 dual purpose bike (for strictly on road use). Opinions? What do I need to know about this type of bike? I am afraid that it won’t like being parked outside, cuz of no fairing. Is the seat height significantly higher than on a sport bike? What do I need to know about them concerning day to day riding? Is the engine buzz a big problem for <2 hour trips? What about the seat? Is carrying a passenger for short rides very uncomfortable? Anyone here can give first hand comparo between this and a sport bike? Helmet lock standard? Which dual purpose is the best streeter? Mileage on a used bike? Things to watch out for?
Thanks for the info, guys. After thinking it over, I decided I can’t use my head to make this decision, cuz if I did that I would not be buying a bike, at all. So to my heart it goes, or not at all. I’m lookin’ at some Fireblades, atm. :)

Are the Polar Heart Rate monitors accurate?

I bought one of those heart rate monitors with a watch and I like it but after a 45 minute spinning class and 30 minutes walking back home the calories burned said 950. I think that’s way too much and not accurate. Am I wrong? What are other people’s experiences? I’m 5′6 and 70 kilos/155 lbs Thanks!

Is my resting heart rate okay?

As I grow older, I’m paying more attention to symptoms in my body. I’m 44 years old and have been monitoring my heart rate and blood pressure, for instance. My 3 day resting average is 70 (72, 72 and 66 today). I would consider myself in "below average" fitness level, because I’m obese (but working on it). I saw this chart that says for someone in below-average health my age, a normal resting rate is 76 o 82. Should it concern me that my average is 70?

Sudden increase in heart rate?

Sometimes I get a sudden increase in heart rate out of nowhere. I’ll be sitting down, watching TV or something, and my heart will sort of jump and start beating really fast for like maybe 2 or 3 seconds and it’ll be over. Sometimes I feel like coughing because it beats really fast out of nowhere.

I’m 21. I don’t drink caffinated drinks or anything, and I don’t eat junk food. I’m also about 14 pounds underweight, could that have something to do with it? But I’ve been underweight for all my life, and this started happening only recently a few times.
And I don’t exercise, so I know that’s not it.

any one have any ideas?

Dr Oz's heart rate formula?

I was watching Oprah, and Dr Oz was talking about the heart rate best for your weight and age while your working out. They displayed a mathematical formula for working it out on the screen, but i just missed it. Please, if you know it can you tell me what it is. Thanks

I’m running (treadmill) for weight loss and management; this is my cardio. I don’t care about running as a sport, marathons, etc. I also weight train and eat only whole foods.

I alternate: 1min @ 6.2 mph 0.5% incline / 1 min 3.8 mph 5% incline; total 65 mins (with 5 min cool-down) – a little over 5 miles, 750 calories. I’m doing this EVERY DAY
when I do it, I sweat, get flushed a bit – it’s a workout, but I’m not gasping or struggling – I can talk normally but with normal increased respiration

I’m 50 y.o., male
quit smoking ( 1+ pack/day, over 30 yrs) 13 months ago
quit drinking ( 12 pack / day Pabst Blue Ribbon) 29 months ago

12/31/07 start 196 lbs, now at 180, going to 146 lbs (goal), watching body composition, open to regaining good weight later
now, have skinny legs, arms, neck, etc. but all belly fat

resting heart rate approx. 48
running heart rate about 148

I’m just curious how this compares / benchmarks; be nice please

I take Group Groove cardio dance class at my YMCA and I’d like to track the calories I burn in my daily fitness diary. Has anyone used a heart rate monitor during one of these classes and gotten an idea of how many calories you can burn during an average 1 hour class?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIEFE5GIpDw

okay, I’m 15 years old.
& this man says I should keep it in the 65% range for fat burning, which is what i’m looking for, so what is my target heart rate?

Reached above maximum heart rate?

I was riding my bike at the park today, had a polar watch to track my heart rate. I noticed in some point I reached 106% of my maximum heart rate, freaked me out and I slowed down.

How is that possible?
(I have a resting pulse of 75 per minute, and my fitness lvl isnt that high, though im exercising regularly for a few months)
park no or park, I rode pretty fast.

Are you a member of Lifetime Fitness?

Do you like Lifetime Fitness and their features? I am a member and although I enjoy the gym, I find some of their training programs a little overpriced, along with the MAP test. Has anyone taken the MAP test at Lifetime and found their results useful? What about the Polar Heart Rate Monitors they are always advertising? Useful?

Thank you! :)

Best Heart Rate Monitor?

I’m going to be starting p90x in a few weeks and I am looking for a decent heart rate monitor. I want one that i wear around my chest or waist and has a wrist watch monitor. I have seen a few that cost around 80-100 dollars and although I am willing to spend about this, i was curious which heart rate monitors get good reviews. Thanks for your help.

are these symptoms of depression?

i never feel self-useless, but i have excessive guilt that climaxes even to fainting, i only fainted once, but still
my guilt is not about stealing something and feeling regret, it’s something that doesn’t have impact or effect on other people’s lives
however, im completely not guilty about making myself guilty to the point where i have fainted before
is this depression? what am i going through, it scares me most of the time
i want to show-off and be confidence all the time doing good in everything, but when i feel guilty i can’t do anything properly, affecting every movement that i make
so i love sports, but it involves movement, so i can’t do that while i feel this guilt
i don’t want to play because i want to do the best, but i won’t be able to

i have a lot of thinking going on in my head and a lot of reasoning of the guilty stuff why i should be guilty and why i shouldn’t
i read people’s minds and think that i should give them information to change their thought because i feel guilty of taking advantage of their thoughts
i can’t even watch a movie because it involves thinking and enjoying, i don’t allow myself to enjoy or something else
i think in some ways i feel that i would get punished in every little thing, so i would give it to myself first before that happens

i want to become a surgeon or anything that i want later in life, also go to places with my family and friends and have a good time, but all gets incinerated when i feel guilt

is it normal to think that everything that i do has a reason and respect, appreciate, and tolerate myself?
i haven’t been feeling like this for the last few months and it had stopped before the last one came, but i have been feeling like this for 2 years(about one thing that i was guilty about took the most time of this feeling)
headaches(for a few months), stomach aches(going to washroom), dry coughs, low immune system for a few months, so having mild cold most of the time, tiredness interfering with studying, increased heart rate after waking up from tiredness, a lot of thoughts and rationalizing, 26lbs gain, eating alot
i might have more but these are what i have been going through
infected lymph node, muscle pain in the back
basically i have been having too much physical problems for the past few months
i sprained my ankle a few years ago, but recently i sprained the same ankle twice
i can’t sleep a lot, and when i wake up, i can’t go back to sleep
i sleep for about 7 hours
i never have trouble sleeping though, once i get on it i never notice anything until i get conscious, but when im really stressed i think about weird things as i sleep
i also have a thyroid problem, having too much hormones
my only solution to guiltiness is confession, i don’t regret about what i did

One measrue of physical fitness is a "step test," in which a subject steps us on a low platform and then back down (one second for each), and continues this process for 3 minutes. Then the pulse rate and respiration rate of the individual in monitored ntil they rturn to the normal rate measured before the test started. Why do breathing and heart rate remain elevated after exercise stops?
