Why is my resting pulse so fast?

Okay, so recently, I’ve noticed that my resting heart rate is faster than normal (sometimes above 100 per minute if I notice this and start worrying about it) because:
1). When I’m walking around to my different classes at school, my pulse is higher. I carry a heavy backpack and I have to walk up and down stairs to get to my classes. I often have to rush to avoid being late because my school is large. When I arrive to class, I’m out of breath.
2). Since I’ve been noticing this, I get nervous about it, which only causes my pulse to go even faster.
3). I’m rather lazy at home. I haven’t been exercising as much in the past year or so, because I’m not in any P. E. classes in high school (not too many options). I often don’t have enough motivation to exercise at home because I’m alone, and it’s no fun.
4). I may not be drinking much water or drinks ’cause at school, my teachers get irritated about students asking to go to the restroom (obviously the more you drink, the more you have to go).
5). I might have an unhealthy diet; since my family doesn’t have a lot of money, wo often end up eating fast foods for dinner.
6). I’m often up late at night either reading or watching TV.
7). My mom told me that I have a fast metabolism (I’m not overweight though I have a big appetite).
Could this be A) anxiety, B) I need to exercise more, C) dehydration, D) malnutrition, or E) all of the above? I know I probably have a VERY unhealthy lifestyle currently. What should I do to get back in shape?

Timex GPS running watches?

I need to buy a GPS running watch, it has to be timex, so don’t recommend a different brand. I run cross country, so I need a watch that will tell me distance, pace, and time. (I don’t really care about heart rate) I was wondering if anyone can recommend a watch OTHER THAN THE GLOBAL TRAINER. Also, do you have to use a clip on thing for the distance to work? Will it work if I don’t wear the heart rate monitor?

Thanks

How do I work out with my 5 year old running around?

I’ve been trying to work out 4-5 days a week for about an hour a day. My 5 year old son is always running around seeming to purposely get in my way. I try to make him understand that when I tell him to get out of the way it’s not to be mean, but so I won’t bump into him, kick him, or hurt him in any way while doing my exercise moves. I’ve tried keeping him busy with something else, but it never works. I’ve tried the kid workouts they have on Exercisetv on demand, but he gets bored with those. I’ve tried letting him exercise with me using my workouts but he always wants to get right under foot. I tried teaching him that each of us needs our own exercise space, but no matter where I move to get out of HIS way he jumps right in front of me to get in mine. The majority of the time I can’t even get my heart rate to a good pace during cardio because I’m constantly having to stop. I watch my diet and already run around with him outside, pick him up swinging him around while playing, and all of the "every day activities" that the pros suggest to exercise with kids, but I think I have a naturally slow metabolism(even though I’m only 25) because I never see results from these activities, which is why I think I need this extra workout. My husband works 5pm until 7am and sleeps until 1pm, then I have to work 4pm-9pm, my son and I get home about 10pm. The time between my husband getting up and me going to work I have to fix lunch and take that time to clean up the house while he spends time with our son. The only child-free time I’d have to work out is around 11pm when my son is in bed, but by then I am so exhausted from the busy day that I can’t get motivated to do any kind of work out and I have to go to sleep by 12 to get enough rest to be up and start the day over at 7am the next morning. With all that said, does anyone have an helpful suggestions?

Suunto M2 Heart Rate Monitors

www.heartratewatchcompany.com – The new Suunto M2 heart rate monitors are super functional and stylish enough to wear as an everyday watch. Get real-time heart rate, calories and more.

At the doctors office, I always get paniky, and my heart rate is like 100, sometimes 120, and my bp can go as high as like 160/95

At home I have a good BP monitor, and if I take it at rest it averages at about 123/70, and my average heart rate at rest druing this is like 55.

So, does this sound liek white coat syndrome?

When I take it at home, I usually do it when I am on the computer. Like you are supposed to do it at rest right, when you are relaxed like in the morning, or while watching TV.

I did in once during peak exercise, HR like 140, and it only went up to like 150/80, so I must have some real bad white coat, anxiey.

Sound right?

Heart Rate Monitor – EKG

I am a 23 year old male. Still a little out of shape. I recently lost 60 lbs.

I am now 170-175 lbs (5′10").

I bought a heart rate monitor (one that straps to chest) and calculated my calories burned while running/walking.

I ran and walked for 1:37. My typically setup is, I start off walking for 5 minutes. I then run a mile at 6.3 MPH, then walk another .20 miles, run a mile at 6.8 MPH, walk another .20 miles, run a mile at 7.3 MPH, walk another .20 miles, then run a mile at 7.8 MPH. Peak heart rate is 179 BPM. Average heart rate is 140.

I then walk for around 15 minutes, then I hit the indoor track and run another mile in ~ 10 minutes.

My heart rate monitor says my "fat burn" time is 44:04 and my "fitness" time is 53:29.

I burned 1139 calories in that session according to my monitor.

I do that workout I just listed 3-4 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday (and maybe Saturday) and sometimes I run ~ 2-3 miles on Sunday.

I also do a spinning class twice a week. The spinning class is a total killer for me. I never sweat like that when I run. My heart rate is almost always > 180 for usually the entire hour.

I am going to wear my heart rate monitor one day to spinning to see what it says, but I was just wondering, how many calories do you think I burn in a spinning class? (Usually a Mix of starting endurance, ending strength then 15 minute cool down with a final sprint, or maybe a pyramid.

It seems like my running calories burned is really high. I read people say they burn "700 calories in spinning…" I feel wrecked after spinning, nothing like running. What do you think?

It’s better to move around the whole day rather than working out really vigorously, and intensely hard for 45 minutes and then sitting on your butt for the other 23 hours? Also, when I do workout I tend to let my heartrate go down. I’ll rest for like 2 to 3 minutes before doing another set of reps of what I’m doing, not really challenging my heart rate. If I’m doing jerky movements like core exercises fast to keep my heart rate up then am I likely to have an injury? I was told this by doing fast movements such as situps, push ups, etc. Is working out for 45 minutes a day and sitting down watching TV and being idle for 23 hours not productive in burning fat or does it take more than that? My diet is fine though, that’s not even a topic…I know the right foods to eat.

well im doing insanity workout and im 19 year old girl with small wrist i need a accurate watch heart rate monitor ,and changable battery by my own.i want the exact calories burned shown by the monitor which brand is the best which one?suggestion?
