Has to have GPS which guides you back to starting position. I think some other Garmins do this but they are too big and would like other suggestions that have this feature. Preferably they are not too pricey (under £100 – not likely). Thx for any replies
thx for replies but do you know of any with the gps map (thing) which helps you if you get lost. I like this feature and I think the 110 doesnt have this?

What Fitness Watch to get?

I’m looking for a fitness watch and i’m not sure where to start looking. I don’t have any background knowledge on these but i do find these watches can be useful from what i hear. I’m looking for something thats capable of tracking/recording running pace/distance with a GPS, a calorie counter, heart rate monitor, and perhaps something that can keep track of all this for other sports (basketball, football) and workouts (lifting). I know its standard now to have watch with GPS for runners but i’m also interested to see if a watch can do the same with other sports and physical activities. I’ve seen the Garmin offers a wide range of watches (The Forerunner series) but i just wanted to know if anyone knows of one in particular of any brand that can do all that i list above.

Looking for a good running watch?

I recently lost my running watch and am seeking a replacement and I thought I wold see if any other triathletes had any suggestions. Here are the basics that I am looking for…

1. easy to read
2. waterproof for swimming laps
3. slim design and something that i could wear around during the day
4. I just want basic functionality with a stopwatch/alarm clock if possible. I don’t want to pay for or kill the battery life with power hungry features such as GPS or heart rate monitor
5. around or under 0

I was looking at the timex model at this link but i thought i would see if anyone else had any favorites.

Thanks for any input!

I want to add heart rate monitor to my bike rides. I already have a wireless cateye speedometer and wonder if a wireless hrm will interfere with signal. I had a front flashing light that interfered with wireless speedo signal. I might get a garmin 500 but not ready to pay that price if I can get a Timex hrm for . Thanks!

How accurate a heart rate monitor should be?

Hello. I’ve just bough a Timex T5G971 HRM and im little concerned about the readings. Im sitting still and it is not as accurate as it could be. I counted the beats manually (77 per minute right now) and the device shows me anywhere from 68 to 90. Most of the time it’s around 72-84 so that’s fine it doesn’t need to be superprecise, after all it’s one of the cheapest models although very well reviewed. It wouldn’t be a problem if not those jumps – i am not moving and the thing goes to 88, 90, 92.. kinda strangy.. ;o Should i return it or it’s just how the HRMs work in general.
EDIT
Also, every now and then it starts beeping out of control like 5-8 ‘beeps’ at once, and then returns normal ^_^
@Appollenaire
That’s a great answer, thanks. Im curious though – is it because it is extremely hard for any device to tell exactly what the heart rate is or does the heart varies it’s pace continuously?

I want a GPS watch for really cheap I found this watch for under 60$. but gps watches are usually a lot more like at least 100$ and most are 200$. I just want a watch that tells me my mile pace and distance I don’t care about the heart rate monitor. do u have any suggestion on where I can get one for under 100$ I already looked on eBay here is the watch I found

I have the Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS watch and lost the heart rate band, so I bought a new one. Now, I can’t sync the watch and the band and can’t get my heart rate! Does anybody know how to do this??

About heart rate monitors?

Hi just need to now the adventages of a timex heart rate monitor plz answer

I’m trying to decide what watch will best suit me for my training. I’m a serious runner (75 miles a week) who runs at the collegiate level. Really, I just want a watch that gives me accurate distance, as well as mile pace (every mile if possible), and total time elapsed. I don’t care about heart rate or calories burned, I just want the basics. So between the two brands, which one has these features and is considered more accurate? I guess what I’m trying to ask is between the garmin 110 forerunner, the new nike + sportband, and the old nike gps (goes for ), which one should I get and why?

Thanks!!

I did some research and wanted a heart rate monitor that would calculate calories burned but also would give me speed and distance so when I’d go for runs, and didn’t already know mileage then I’d know. I went to Dicks sporting goods and they suggested Sportline Duo 1060, although it’s great does everything I want it to do and more, it’s confusing to use and don’t know truly know if the calorie (which reads in kc) or if the heart rate is accurate. I really need and want an accurate heart rate and calories burned monitor, I mainly do spinning and running for cardio. I’ve been also suggested Timex Ironmen Road or Race Trainer. Any suggestions??

Heart Monitor Watches and more?

Im looking at buying a basic heart rate monitor watch. I am not sure what is the best brand to use. I want a watch in which i don’t have to replace battery, and it can accessories with a footpod, so i can measure my distance. I was looking at garmin but i am not sure which brand to trust. Advice please.

I am wanting to buy a Garmin Forerunner 305 sports watch with GPS and heart rate monitor. There are some cheaper ones online in the US and UK but I am unsure if the sat navigation will work in Australia… Can anyone help with this?? Thanks so much

The only difference I know of is that the 405CX has heart-rate based calorie computation (how much more accurate is this than the 405?). Are there any other differences? Can I track my swim with either of these watches? Would you recommend either of these watches over the other and are there any other watches of the same capability that you would recommend?

This is the Mio one:

This is the Timex one:

Just for use at the gym and while on runs/jogs and stuff.

Both are same price.

Runners- I'm looking for a watch?

I’m looking to buy a good running watch. I had a nike heart rate monitor one and it broke. I need one that calculates speed with at least 8-lap memory, heart rate, and distance with gps rather than foot pod. Preferably water resistant and not too bulky. Also less than 0, *if possible*. Any suggestions or reviews? Thanks
p.s. Any thoughts on the Timex Ironman Bodylink?

Recommend a Good Running Watch?

I am looking for a watch preferably under . It doesn’t have to track my distance or pace or heart, I just need on that can have a total time and a lap time and that is good looking. Also I would like a watch that can give an alarm or something off after a certain amount of time. Any recommendations? I was looking at some Asics, Adidas, Nike, and Timex watches, but any specific watches you recommend? I want just a watch with no heart rate monitors or little things you put in your shoe!

Timex Bodylink Watch?

Does anyone own one of the Timex bodylink watches. It has a heart monitor, gps transceiver. It is suppose to give your average running pace, distance and heart rate. I wanting to get one but I’m wanting to know if they are worth the cost and actually work. Thanks

Looking for a good women's heart rate monitor?

It needs to have the ability to upload heart rate info on a comp without having to buy something extra.
and must use/come with a chest strap (if thats possible)
Price i’m willing to pay up to ~120

I bought a timex one yesterday thinking the thing came with it, but it is an extra 80 bucks to be able to upload data, which is unacceptable to me.

I got a garmin forerunner 50 wrist watch that records my heart rate, speed, cadence, calories, time and distance ran. I have about 6 workout sessions of data downloaded to my computer.

What do I do with the data? I am a new runner and I don’t know how to analyze the data to help me.

Yeah, i know max heart rates, and to exercise in the 60% to 80% percent zone.

Is their some type of software that can analyze this data and give me suggestions on how to improve my workouts?
Anyone have any insight?

Can someone recommend a heart rate monitor?

I’ve decided not to get a polar, b/c I don’t want to have to send it in for battery replacement. I’m torn between a timex and a nike c6. I’m not a runner, so I don’t care about the lap features. Any suggests?

Should I buy a Garmin Forerunner 405?

I am looking to buy a running watch for cross country season. However, I am not sure whether to buy a more heart rate monitor devoted product such as a Polar, or a GPS devoted product such as a Garmin. I love the look of the Forerunner 405 as it does just about everything, although, I have heard that they are unreliable, they have a poor battery life and that they stop working in humid conditions (i live in brisbane). Your help is appreciated.

I wonder how important the alarms are that are supposed to keep you in your zones, as well as presets for different zones. Since I’ve never used one, it’s hard to know what I will want at first. It sort of seems like I should just get a bare bones inexpensive model that just shows current heart rate. I’ve seen a Timex I like – comes with Indiglo and you can change the battery on your own. Are all the extra features worth it?

Which watch is the best for a runner?

I’m a runner and am curious which watch is the cheapest but still tells me my distance, pace, and heart rate while I’m running. I looked at the Garmin Forerunner. What do you all think of those?

Heart Rate Monitors… any advice?

I’m looking to get a heart rate monitor and honestly am a little overwhelmed with the amount of them available. It seems that Polar and Timex are the leading companies but I wanted your opinions. Have you used one? Did it give you accurate data?

Basically I understand the value of intensity training, i want a monitor that gives you accurate readings and i would rather not pay 9. If you have used one that is user friendly, accurate, and affordable please let me know!

How can anyone justify a $3.8 Trillion Budget?

I’d like to get a Garmin GPS heart rate monitor watch. I can currently get one for about 0 but it’s a splurge and I can make do with my cheapo Timex Iron Man sports watch which only cost about four years ago. Do I want to set my family’s budget back 0 or do I just tough it out with my low-tech, no-frills Timex? It has a frayed velcro strap by the way. I choose to be responsible and save that 0 for a rainy day (or a gift giving occasion so that my husband will have the opportunity to get me something I really, really want).

So what’s my point? My point is, why does Obama feel SO compelled to spend, spend, spend? Why can’t he show some restraint like I did and say NO. Surely if he stops spending now, even as I’m typing this question, he will do less damage to our economy than waiting for that bogus spending freeze that won’t come until 2011 (and that’s a spending freeze that will freeze THIS year’s spending, which will be ratcheted up before the spending freeze goes into effect in 2011…more Obama slight of hand rhetoric).

So, what’s the justification for this .8 Trillion budget? Why not just stop ALL spending until Obama can undergo a psychiatric evaluation?!?
Duh. I should’ve specified that only necessary spending should be retained, such as spending for our national defense. That’s a no brainer. The spending I’m opposed to is frivolous government spending, regardless of party. I live in NYC and my state is bankrupt. We have unsustainable gov’t pension obligations that we can’t afford and no leadership to make tough but necessary decisions, so they tax. What happened to Obama’s promise of line-item vetoing of pork in the omnibus spending bill? This level of spending (that’s trillion with a "T"), is unsustainable. It’ll be greater than GDP by 2012 and will bankrupt the country. Government doesn’t create wealth. That’s the job of visionaries, entrepreneurs, private businesses and individuals. Government is a confiscator of wealth, a drain of resources and in some cases, a creator of perpetual misery. I don’t have faith in government, especially this administration.

I was doing Zumba tonight and I had my Timex digital heart rate monitor on; and I’m not in great shape but not terrible either and it was up to 205 once during a song that was fast and had a lot of jumps. I am kind of worried as that is incredibly high and I’m 22 so my workout heart rate should be like 160. Could I just be in worse shape than I think or could it point to a heart problem? I have had an EKG done and they found nothing, so could it also just be the monitor overshooting?

I don’t actually know if it would be made specifically for running, but that’s what I want one for. It seems like one should be available. Maybe a Garmin or something?

Thanks

Its a Timex T5J031 with a chest strap. I am assuming its pretty accurate considering the chest strap tracks my heart rate.

Which Garmin running watch should I get?

I’m looking at the Garmin forerunner 201, the Garmin forerunner 305, and the Garmin forerunner 50. They all have the things I want but I cant choose! Regardless of price,
Which one do you think is better?
Have you had any experience with any of these?
Any other watch suggestions? (I’m looking for a watch with accurate distance, speed, calories, and possibly pace and heart-rate).

Anything you want to express about running watches is helpful!
