I used to have a certain belief in heart rate monitors and the “fat burning zone.” Now, I just focus on the INTENSITY of my workout, not my heart rate..
-Josh
That is correct! Heart rates differ based on age, fitness levels, weight, activity, etc.
Swimming 4 miles may burn more calories than running 4 miles, problem is it would take you a lot longer to swim 4 miles. Running is more efficient in that you can burn more calories per minute of work than swimming.
how about jumping jacks and squat thrust?
Still not nearly as good as walking or jogging at burning fat and calories.
Roids…
Watch my video for proof of Steve Turano admitting his on roids!
I wasn’t sure which activity really was better at reducing weight; Swimming,.or Jogging? While out in California I put it to the test. I ran AND swam for 1 hour a piece. Some of the loss would be water weight. I ran for 1 hour and found when completed, that I was almost 2 lbs. lighter! The next day I went for a 1 hour swim out near Catalina Island. When I got done with the swim, I was an incredible 34 lbs. lighter!! Unfortunately is was because a shark had taken my leg…but still.
LOLForeals
i’m all about the stairmaster. it uses a large group of leg muscles, and you sweat a lot, which is good. but man, time seems to go by in slow motion, compared to using a treadmill or elliptical.
if you do kick boxing for an hour intensely, using both legs and arms, do you believe that is more effective?
YES!
so would an olyptical be one of the best tools for fat burning? I have a gym here where i work, it’s fully loaded, it also has tredmills. I’m also going to look through your videos.. wondering if you have any tips on diet
based on what u said, intense weightlifting would be the best method nothing uses more calories than that right. so by weight training alone u should be able to get a great six pack.
I don’t think you heard what he’s saying. Weight training. like all activity, will burn SOME calories. IF you add some lean muscle tissue you will burn a few extra calories as well…at least while you’re up and moving. Besides that, it’s cardio that burns the most cals and a controlled diet that keeps cal consumption under control. The largest part of the whole equation however, is your activity. Diet is second. Your activity includes Weights, Cardio, and EVERYTHING else you do all week long.
He’s right, I’ve seen my most weight loss come when I did high intensity cycling and those hills REALLY kicked my butt (literally).
This is when steve turano liked to stick his penis up the butt, and occasionally have a gay threesome
Let me tell you someting… If you swim intensly for an hour you are going to burn a good chunk of calories. If you jump rope for an hour you are going to burn a shit load of calories. It does not require a hole leg recruitment to be effective cardio. I dont know what cracker jack BS he got this from but its not true. Intensity and or duration are the keys to cardio that burn calories.
stair master is the way to go.dont even look at the others.
Steve, I really like your videos, but I disagree with the jumping rope part.
Jump rope is much more intense than jogging in my oppinion. I can jog up to an hour with no problems, but jump rope kills me after 15-25 minutes. You use your legs (talk about burning calves) AND your upper body. It’s a great overall fitness workout if done correctly.
I would compare running with fast jump roping.
Anyway, you’re videos are great, you are speaking the truth most of the time ;D
Greetings
woahh! jumping rope is possibly the best cardio exercise you can do. 10 mins of rope jumping is equivalent to 25-30 mins of jogging. i thoroughly recommend jumping rope as an alternative to running or cycling etc. If jumping rope was not effective then why do all pro boxers use this form of cardio?? jumping rope can in some cases burn more calories than running
@paulioj101 This is NOT true. Yes jumping rope raises your heartrate and probably develops some cardiovascular strength, but it does not burn as many calories as running/sprinting…not even close. Boxing is a sport of rhythm, jumping rope helps with rhythm and hand/foot coordination…..or so they say. I never did a lot of it. Lifeline Jump Ropes started right here in my home town and sort of know the guy that started it all. Never thought much of it then…and still don’t.
VEry informative and very smart. Excellent Video. Thank you
