Does anyone own a Polar Fitness Monitor watch-F6?
I got this as a gift and it came with a T317 Transmitter-do I have to use the chest strap in order to read my calories burned?
(I don’t care about monitoring heart rate….)

The simplest way to calculate target heart rate for burning calories is by subtracting age from 220 and multiplying that number by .85, or 85 percent. Im about 90 lbs over weight. I love running. I know all about watching what i eat. I usually do 30 min of elliptical and then some light weights. When i run, and i have my music on and i Always get a adrenaline rush and feel like i can do more. Yesterday i did an hour on the elliptical and it felt great. And i did it at my heart rate for the best weight loss. If i enjoy it, is that too much? The machine said i burned about 600 calories. Im not worried about getting burned out because i enjoy the music and running. Then i thought maybe i will do this every day, 2 times a day. Can i really burn 1200 calories a day if i do this? And if i enjoy it, is there a bad side? will i loose weight faster, and is it safe?
i dont want a pedometer because that only calculates the calories burned by walking,a heart rate monitor i dont want eighter its wayy to expansive is there any other electronic that calculates the calories burned by doing fitness excersise like jumping jack, and doing sit ups???thanks
Calories. nutrition, fitness gurus help needed.?
Hi. I am 20 years old. 177 pounds. I am 4 months post partum. I was 226 pounds when I started. I lift 4 times per week and do cardio 5 days per week. I use a POLAR heart rate monitor and it says I am burning 700-900 calories per workout. I usually lift and do 5 sets. reps are as follows. 12,10,8,6,12 then superset with a second exercise for the same muscle. I do upper/lower body splits made mostly of compoud exercises. I am currently eating 1780 calories with a 40/40/20 macro split. I eat very clean. When I began my new eating regimen I started with 2100 calories, nothing happened then I dropped it again 200 calories gained 8 pounds. Then I recently switched to 1780 and I dropped 10 pounds! The 8 + the 2! I just want to make sure I am not burning too many calories and I am fueling up enough to continue losing weight. I was losing great until June then I hit a wall. Stuck with it just changed my diet numbers again and bam I dropped. I am not looking to be a certain weight or size by a certain time, I just want to make sure I am doing this the right way and making progress
clean eating. no refined sugar, no alcohol, whole grains, veggies, low gi fruits, I always have breakfast and my other 5 meals throughout the day. Its not very hard or limiting. I make the food I like but cleaner. It response to snowboard, I know fat doesnt turn into muscle but you still have to build muscle to burn more calories. You don’t have to do a ton of mindless cardio to lose weight it is a good balance of aerobic and anaerobic activity. I enjoy lifting and I will continue to do it. Also not sure if I added I do a ton of body weight exercises and pilates. Push ups, pull us, dips etc. I try to change my workout all of the time and always looking for a new challenge. I am very educated in fitness, I am just having trouble getting my calorie numbers right. ![]()
I changed up to upper/lower split 2 weeks ago. Prior to that I was working different body parts on different days bad idea. My strength shot through the roof but not much of anything else. The upper/lower split is from BFL but the diet is not from the zone diet. I looked it up and the Zone is less carbs, more fat. Any other suggestions calories wise? Anyone know how many calories they burn per workout?
Do you need one?
Okay, so this morning I did an hour long session on "My Fitness Coach". At the end of the session it told me I’d burned 167 calories, sounds a little light considering it was a reasonably intense workout?
Well I happened to be wearing a calorie counting heart rate monitor, and that reckoned during my hour I’d burned 530 calories. I’m more inclined to believe the heart rate monitor, but all the same the one figure is roughly 3x the other! What do you guys think?
I am currently looking to buy a new fitness watch but have been a bit confused by all of the different options. I cycle 12km a day and was looking for something to measure heart rate, bpm, cycle time, calories, etc. I also run 3/4 times a week and would like heart rate, bpm, calories, lap times, etc. I would like a fitness watch that can be used for both, that looks quite good, and if possible works on mac os x?
Much thanks in advance.
I need to buy a heart rate monitor that calculates my Heart Rate, my %, and Calories burned. Which one is the best for a reasonable price.
Please list some brands and where I can buy them; online or store.
Thank you!
I bought one of those heart rate monitors with a watch and I like it but after a 45 minute spinning class and 30 minutes walking back home the calories burned said 950. I think that’s way too much and not accurate. Am I wrong? What are other people’s experiences? I’m 5′6 and 70 kilos/155 lbs Thanks!
I’m running (treadmill) for weight loss and management; this is my cardio. I don’t care about running as a sport, marathons, etc. I also weight train and eat only whole foods.
I alternate: 1min @ 6.2 mph 0.5% incline / 1 min 3.8 mph 5% incline; total 65 mins (with 5 min cool-down) – a little over 5 miles, 750 calories. I’m doing this EVERY DAY
when I do it, I sweat, get flushed a bit – it’s a workout, but I’m not gasping or struggling – I can talk normally but with normal increased respiration
I’m 50 y.o., male
quit smoking ( 1+ pack/day, over 30 yrs) 13 months ago
quit drinking ( 12 pack / day Pabst Blue Ribbon) 29 months ago
12/31/07 start 196 lbs, now at 180, going to 146 lbs (goal), watching body composition, open to regaining good weight later
now, have skinny legs, arms, neck, etc. but all belly fat
resting heart rate approx. 48
running heart rate about 148
I’m just curious how this compares / benchmarks; be nice please
How does one actually count the calories they are burning? I’m going to get a watch with a heart rate monitor, it doesn’t come with a calorie counter so I’m looking for a way to calculate it myself. Am I able to calculate it with just weight and heart rate? What other factors are into play?
I like running watches and I’m pretty serious about it. i need a watch that has one of those sensors in your shoe or something. I’m just looking for the best watch for the money. i don’t want a heart rate watch I want a watch that does like distance, calories burned, pace (steps per minute) and it can’t cost more then . anyone have some ideas?
I am planning to buy a HRM and plan to use it for mainly jogging. I decided to get the Nike Traix c5 but it has an chest attachement, which i just found out through ebay as i was looking for the best deal…. Can anyone suggest some good HRM’s which also show calories burned, and which do not have those chest attachments???
I recently incorporated the use of a Polar Heart Rate Monitor into my exercise routine. I work out 6 days a week. 5 days consist of 45 minutes of cardio and another 45 minutes of weight training and the 6th day is just the 45 minutes of cardio. On day 7 I rest.
I always love watching the calorie counters on my favorite cardio machines such as the eliptical bikes and cross trainers … they tend to tell me I burn much more calories in a 45 minutes session (about 575 to 600). A treadmill says I burn about 350 to 400 in the same time.
When I started using the heart rate monitor I noticed the calories burned on the HR monitor showed lower ranges on the eliptical bike & cross trainer … about 375 for 45 minutes verses what the machine said (575-600). As for the treadmill, the HR monitor was closer in range to the machine.
I’m wondering which one is more accurate (the HR monitor or the machine?) Both devices make you imput your age and weight … so why are they so different?
I want one I can use while in motion & continuous feedback would be great (so I guess it would have to have the chest strap). Calories burned and a stop watch feature would also be good. Other cool features I may be missing? Good value and performance, hopefully less than 0.
I got a garmin forerunner 50 wrist watch that records my heart rate, speed, cadence, calories, time and distance ran. I have about 6 workout sessions of data downloaded to my computer.
What do I do with the data? I am a new runner and I don’t know how to analyze the data to help me.
Yeah, i know max heart rates, and to exercise in the 60% to 80% percent zone.
Is their some type of software that can analyze this data and give me suggestions on how to improve my workouts?
Anyone have any insight?
Hi All, my age is 26 with 77 kg weight, 180cm and I’m a sport guy but i want to ask if it’s ok to burn 750 calories as per my Heart Rate watch everyday?
Thanks
I’m looking for a heart rate monitor that I’m not sure exists. I want a strapless model that continulously measures my heart rate (I’m not sure if this can even be achieved) that has a pedometer, calories burned and can be worn as a watch. I could deal with it not measuring my heart rate continulously if it gave me an accurate calorie count, but I don’t want to wear a strap.
I’m looking at the Garmin forerunner 201, the Garmin forerunner 305, and the Garmin forerunner 50. They all have the things I want but I cant choose! Regardless of price,
Which one do you think is better?
Have you had any experience with any of these?
Any other watch suggestions? (I’m looking for a watch with accurate distance, speed, calories, and possibly pace and heart-rate).
Anything you want to express about running watches is helpful!
I exercise on a elliptical machine for 30 minutes or a bike for 30 minutes my heart rate never goes over between 86-90. Is this normal. I almost 60 years old and have been exercising for years. I seem to be at a standstill and can’t loose even a pound with watching what I eat and exercising. I’m thinking I just don’t burn the calories because of the heart rate.
I have one of the Polar brand watches that keeps track of your heart rate and gives you your calories burned, but don’t you burn calories on top out those calories burned by a high heart rate? Or am I wrong? I was just wondering because I am doing a workout that part of the time you workout your arms but not at a high rate of speed thus your heart rate is lower. Thanks!!
I’m looking for a watch to use at the gym that will keep track of my heart rate AND calories burned. I will be using it during random cardio classes like spinning and kickboxing. What brands are best and most affordable for what I’m looking for?
Since the summer has almost arrived i plan on swimming everyday. I know that there are watches out there that monitor calories burned and your heart rate while you are exercising but is there any inexpensive watch that is good for swimmers? The watches that i have found require you wear a chest strap so i didn’t know if there was an alternative route out there. Please help!
Is the Polar F55BR any good? What kind of features are must have/nice to have? I don’t need to pay 0, but will if it is worth it. I am not an athlete, but just a regular guy that wants to monitor heart rate, calories burned, etc. There may be features out there I don’t know about that I would like or want. Any help is appreciated!
