Polar Strength Training Guidance

Learn how to improve your strength training workouts using the unique Polar feature, Strength Training Guidance. This feature is found exclusively on the Polar FT80. Full transcript: Hi. This is Chris with Polar USA. Welcome to another installment in our series with Polar Unique Features. As most of you know, strength training is an important part of any exercise program, but for many, there is a struggle to improve. So Polar developed a strength training guidance feature that helps you get better results in less time. Strength training guidance tells you how long to rest between each set and is based on your heart rate and how quickly you recover. In fact, studies have shown that heart rate based recovery improves strength more than traditional training recovery periods. This feature is available on the FT80. Today we’re going to walk you through the step-by-step process of using strength training guidance. Michael will demonstrate this. To get started, you can either download a workout program from Polarpersonaltrainer.com, or if you don’t have the time, the FT80 will still guide you in your strength graining. First, Michael presses Okay, then presses Down to start strength training. Then, he presses Okay twice, and Start Workout will appear on the display. Choose Yes, and press Okay. And he can now begin his first set. Once Michael has completed his set, his training computer tells him his optimal recovery line. While he waits, he can see when the heart rate graph hits

Prototype of the first part of my latest project which is an Arduino ECG heart rate monitor. This circuit uses electrodes connected to the human body, amplifies the signal using an instrumentation amplifier, filters the signal then sends it to the Arduino. The arduino then calculates the effective heart rate. This is just a prototype of small part of my project. Future goals include: -Sending the data via wireless to single receiver, allowing more than one device to monitor then transmit. Most likely, I will be using the Xbee to do this. -Receiver would be connected to a PC and communicate using USB or Serial. -Create a program, probably based on processing, that would display the heart rate and log it into a database according to each patient. Program would also issue warnings if the heart rate is dangerously high or low for a specific person. Pls feel free to leave comments or ask questions. Why Train With Heart Rate Video

Ever wondered why people exercise with heart rate? This animated video answer that precise question and explains how training with heart rate provides guidance to train at the right level and get the best workout for your body – and your goals. Full transcript: Let me tell you about heart rate training. I will start at the beginning. In 1977, we invented heart rate monitoring to help people be fitter / faster. Before then, people thought the best way to get fitter was to train as hard as they possibly could, but in fact the very best way to reach your goal — whatever it is — is to train smart. You do this by listening to your heart, so you know when to go fast and when to you slow, and that’s why people choose Polar. We not only listen to their hearts with great accuracy, but we tell them what the information means for their body. Think of your Polar training computer like a coach on your wrist monitoring your performance, storing vital feedback and interpreting the information to guide you onwards. Many people think heart rate training is just for performance athletes, but actually Polar makes heart rate training simple for everyone who exercises for a reason. You just need to choose the right type of training computer to guide you and you will get to your goal more quickly, because it will tell you the right intensity at which to train, so you never waste any time. You see, your heart is amazing. When you make it work at different intensities, different things happen
